First coat of Howard's feed n wax, I'll do one more than hit the buffer with some carnuba. Gonna let it dry first for a few hours.

Possibly, you could also just smoke it and wipe off the excess. When I go for a matte sheen I'll hit the pipe quick and heavy with a cleaner dipped in shellac and wipe it off right after.

Luckily my wife stopped questioning me long ago. I think she just chalked it up to insanity
