An interesting quality of the ziptie meer is that the crack on the side is pretty visible when cold. There is a small gap despite having the ziptie tightas I can get it. When warm, the gap closes and is barely visible. I am not sure if this is due to expansion with heat and an effective tightening of the ziptie or some internal stress in the block when cold that may have led to the cracking in the first place - something to ponder.

I have to say, it's pretty damn good. Like cinnamon bread almost. I went heavy on the burley so it's running the show, but the Veermaster is definitely bumping up the sweetness.Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:33 amOoh how's that working out?houtenziel wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:15 am I am having a mix of Lane White Burley and Hamborger Veermaster in the Roma apple.

I had a bowl of HGL in the Rob Roy that either did not get posted, or it went in the wrong thread.

What do you do? Melt the wax and dunk it in?Kevin Keith wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 9:03 amYou should give that IMP a beeswax bath. They love it and wow, does it ever bring out color!

It really is just that simple! Cork the chamber, melt the beeswax and submerge it to the stem. I swirl it around in the melted beeswax and then shake off the excess, and wipe/polish the pipe with a soft cloth. Easy!

Yep, Morta, and sandblasted to further open the grain.houtenziel wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 10:01 amIt's Morta wood. A sort of fossilized Oak that they pull out of acidic bogs that is very hard and has an extremely open grain pattern.
