Well.. It's true. Check the internet. Dunhill was out for a bit, but the Danish company that had been blending it for British American finally bought the rights, and they put out a press release saying that the party is back on. So it's safe to smoke it up.. I'm not a huge dunhill lover.. But I would have missed a blend or two. Night Cap for sure.
Anyway..
What are your thoughts on Dunhill in general? What blend would you have missed if it was gone forever?

For me anyway, the Dunhill tobaccos are all good. They are a little rich for my blood. I have tried them and would be quite happy with them on that legendary desert island. I would be in the poorhouse if I smoked them all the time.Chef Benny wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 2:02 am Well.. It's true. Check the internet. If any of the Dunhill blends went away forever, it would not be a game changer for me.

I don't care if they fall off the face of the earth or if they chug along happily doing what they do. I've smoked one tin of Nightcap and one tin of Early Morning Pipe. Someone in 1.0 sent me a tin of Standard. They were ok but no great shakes to me. Oh yeah, I got a tin of Royal Yacht from someone years ago. I didn't like it at all.

I have a tin of the Royal Yacht waiting for the fullness of time. Eventually I will open it, and I may very well like it.

I'm happy for all the fans of Dunhill blends, but after trying a few they really didn't impress me all that much. The Dunhill blends I've smoked, both in bulk & tin, have been Nightcap, MM965, Dunhill Flake & Royal Yacht. I may get a tin of EMP because I'm curious.
How long does it take to reach this fullness of time ?
i have one i've been saving for a several years now but it hasnt popped open yet - so i guess it is not ready

So a few of us are sitting on Royal Yacht tins
I have a "few" tins from original STG and one old tin of Royal Yacht from Murrays. Now STG has cranked it up on their own, so if you liked it before, there should be no change.
Nightcap was popular but too much N for me
EMP, De Luxe Navy Rolls, and especially Flake all worked for me
Regardless, the more blends the better for me, even if I do not smoke them regularly
I take this as very good news, even though it will have no great effect on me generally

Scandinavian Tobacco Group A/S has closed a deal to acquire certain pipe tobacco trademarks and designs from Dunhill Tobacco Company of London Limited, a subsidiary of British American Tobacco p.l.c. Included in the deal are premium pipe tobacco trademarks such as Early Morning Pipe, Nightcap, Royal Yacht and Elizabethan Mixture that were previously sold under the Dunhill brand and carry a solid reputation as well as premium positioning. The price paid is confidential, but immaterial.
Scandinavian Tobacco Group will market the acquired trademarks as sub-brands to existing brands in the company’s portfolio. The acquisition strengthens Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s product range in the premium pipe tobacco segment in important pipe tobacco markets such as the US, Germany and across Asia.
Regis Broersma, Senior Vice President for Scandinavian Tobacco Group’s Smoking Tobacco & Accessories Division says: “We are very happy and proud to add these well-known pipe tobacco brands to our existing strong portfolio. They will enhance our offering to our consumers – and we look forward to protect and explore the full potential of the portfolio by leveraging our sales and marketing competencies.”

I got "bombed" over at the Brothers of Briar in 2014. In one of the packages was a tin of RY. I am not sure how old it was when I got it. One of these days the Mayor will have a "pop a tin" event and I will decide it is time.
