Real Men Don't Need No Stankin' Tamper

Well, sometimes I reach for a tamping tool, but most of the time a quick tap with the tip of my index finger gets the job done. I don't clench much, as my most comfortable smoking position includes my left elbow propped on a chair arm and I hold the pipe, often with my fingers over the bowl, a long-standing habit.

I find that about half the time, just a quick tap a couple draws after the "false" light obviates the need for a re-light. Yeah, sometimes it's rather warm, but never got a blister.

I figure many of you roll in a similar fashion... especially while driving, which is something I haven't done in ten years; it just wouldn't be prudent.

FWIW, I have gotten a blister before. I still do it.

I got a blister before too, and it's my last choice. I like to tee it up.

Well if WK was still around I'd post a picture of my finger.

Sometimes in the garage I use a rusty nail - not just any old rusty nail, you understand, but a specific one - I can almost hear mama warning me of tetanus.

I use a tamper, every time. I hold the pipe in my left hand, I used to use my finger from time to time but no more. I chopped the tips of my fingers off on a band-saw some years ago and the sensitivity level has never decreased.

Ouch!

So, how much did you charge for the meat?

Seriously, I know what you mean. I have a spot on my abdomen that remains sensitive twenty-five years after surgery. Only painful under certain circumstances, but always there.

First time through I read "meat saw." Oh, well.

I've got enough pain in my fingers from arthritis and don't need anymore. I use a tamper.
