For tonight's entertainment I'm loading the press again with something I'll call codger delight.
1.5oz Sir Walter Raleigh
1oz lane ERR
0.2oz dark fired Kentucky
I'm committed to letting this one go a full 7 - 14 days under pressure

What are you using to line the press with? I'm cutting out circles of wax paper to line the top and bottom.Mr Beardsley wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 8:30 pm For tonight's entertainment I'm loading the press again with something I'll call codger delight.

First time I used parchment paper cut in circles. This time I cut circles from a milk carton that I scrubbed and wiped with isopropylJohnny wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 8:34 pmWhat are you using to line the press with? what brand and where did you get that press ?Mr Beardsley wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2019 5:40 pm First attempt is in the chute. I went with the stokkebye / Sutliff combo I posted but I gave the burley a light spritzing before mixing it up.
I had a homemade press i made from a wood box and used bar clamps to do the work
it was a little big and would press about 1 pound at a time
haven't toyed around with that for a few years now
heck i might even have the remains of pressed leaf somewhere around here
last i remember i hand pressed and mylar bagged a small load of tobacco
vacuum packed everything into a those space saver blanket bags and tucked it away

Ok , this isnt a blend so much but just somnething to do that you can change up
4 parts Middletons Cherry
1 part whatever all black cavendish you have on hand ..... I prefer a mildish flavored black cavendish to mix in there because the MCB is pretty straight tasting and a " little something " really makes a big difference

This thread makes me think of this
Penny : You know, Sheldon, I used to cut my brother's hair. I could do it for you.
Sheldon Cooper : Penny, I know you mean well, offering the skills of the hill-folk. But here in town we don't churn our own butter, we don't make dresses out of gunny sacks, and sure-as-shootin' don't get our hair cut by bottle blonde...

My press showed up, and I promptly loaded it up with 2 oz of lightly hydrated SPRT. I'll crack it open next Friday and see how she looks.

Got my Captain Black 5 for 5 pouch deal that P&C offered recently
I am blending all of those
1 part CB to 2 parts SPRT
got them jarred up for a few months to see what happens
if nothing else i have diluted the Black Cavendish down to a smokable ratio for me
and hopefully the SPRT will retain the aromatic qualities that the CB blends offer
i think i will call these blends "Spirit of Captain Black "
smoking the CB Gold right away because i already know i like that !
