December Doodler Days™ is coming up! Looks like some nice ones on Etsy right now. One regular Doodler, and one is a Doodler Jr., one is a pipe in the Doodler style (very nice anyway)

Pipe historian Dave Whitney, pipesbywhitney, on The Doodler:
"The Doodler, and it is proper with "The", was developed by Tracey Mincer of Custom-bilt fame in the 1950s. Mincer made them until his death in 1964 and then his company was sold to National Briar Pipe Co. The pipe you have won is a National one since it has the star logo on the stem. Mincer-made The Doodlers have no star on the stem, so that has become the separation point in dating them. National made The Doodler until about 1980. Claude Stuart, who was one of Mincer's carvers, also made the pipes after Mincer's death under the name Holeysmoke. Those are more rare than The Doodlers. Mincer used an infra-red oil treatment to age the briar he used in his pipes and they are great smokers. I have been smoking them since the 1960s and have never had a bad one. Currently I have three of the early Mincer The Doodler Rhodesians in my smoking rotation."

Nice! Although I've already got a Doodler, I'm sorely tempted, you enabler. :D

50 clams seems like a good price for the Doodler's. If we all have one for DDD we should at least set a day and time during the week so that we're all smoking them together.

For our Special Months of Pipe Emphasis and Smokage™ (SMOPEAS™) I like to at least make the first smoke of the day in honor of the special emphasis pipe. I will often smoke the emphasized style more than that during the course of the day, but the first pipe for sure.

We need a SMOPEAS explanation thread for the newcomers.
