Well , its possible there were vobs in France then , i reckon . I just was surprised being the French were the first to figure Briar for pipes

Reed stemmed pipes smoke cool don't they though? I only have 2 currently, one made by a friend with a prune wood bowl (Papa Toad you still out there somewhere?) and an old estate MM. I have a reed stem clay pipe. It's the only reed stem pipe I have. The reed stem isn't aesthetically perfect but marriage of the read stem with the clay bowl is a match made in Heaven. I've really only smoked my reed stem last April (before it was Claypril) and a few times since them. Reed is a super interesting stem material. I don't know how many years a reed stem will last. I'm not trying to put my reed stem through the paces because, aside from going out in the swamp and cutting and curing my own stem, I don't know where to find one.
