Machine Made Cigars have Muriel.
Drug Store Pipes need Smokin' Sanford!
Huzzah!
What's that from? The MST3K guys were spoofing a movie (can't remember which one) and they kept saying 'Huzzah'

Plop was DC Comics humor magazine. I don't remember if their covers were done by Basil Wolverton, but they were certainly inspired by him even if the master didn't do the work.
Sergio Argones featured prominently in its pages, if I remember correctly, but, I may be wrong.
My brother and I bought one issue and it has rhymes about disgusting creatures. From memory:
"See the Ugloid in his den, picking scabs an eating them. His other habits, I retort, are too disgusting to report."
I can't imagine a magazine directed at children today that would use the word 'retort.' I don't think they would know what the word means. I'm a cranky old man, though. Don't listen to me.
I think that was in Plop Vol. 1, #9. Don't quote me on my memory, though.
Basil Wolverton and Wallace Wood provided covers for the first 19 issues, each depicting a freakish character of some kind. The cover borders hosting a plethora of creatures, however, were drawn by Sergio Aragonés. All three artists worked on MAD, and the logo of Plop! is reminiscent of the early logo of that magazine. Wolverton's covers were not drawn for Plop!; they were inventory pieces which he sent to DC Comics as a general submission. When all of the drawings he submitted were found suitable for use in Plop!, Wolverton briefly came out of retirement so that he could continue drawing covers for the magazine. After he had a stroke, the magazine turned to Wood as the new cover artist.[2]
Aragonés drew most of the frame stories. Later MAD contributor Dave Manak also did art.[4]
