Oh I'm not denying expansion has taken place but, to compare populous is way off. Jersey is the most densely populated state in the country for its size. You come to North Jersey for your vacation and drive around. LolRonv69 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:12 pmIt's completely changed. You wouldn't recognize it. The built-up area has expanded 25 miles in every direction and hundreds of huge apartment complexes have been built. The area where we moved, Humble, in 2005, was at the end of a dead end road with woods all the way to the nearest major road. 2 miles and the traffic was not too bad. We were 35 miles from the center of Houston and about 10 miles from the edge of the heavily populated area. When we moved in 2020, we were surrounded by subdivisions and the traffic was terrible. It took 30 minutes to go the 2 miles to the main road, which was 8 lanes that were usually stopped except for when everyone was racing. There was a fatal accident at least twice a week within 5 miles of our house. On my recent visit, the heavily populated area was 20 miles past our house. Plus, the government has completely gone off the rails and home invasions happened daily. Imagine the population of NJ in one huge, sprawling city.

What I'm saying is that the Houston metro area has grown to the point that it's larger and almost as densely populated as New Jersey. It has only a million less people than New Jersey. These days there shouldn't be a noticeable difference between driving between the two places. My last trip to Houston almost killed me. I will never visit any of the northeast states, unless I go back to Maine or New Hampshire, which isn't likely. How about you take a drive from Huntsville to Galveston or Baytown to Katy?Tsal wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 6:52 amOh I'm not denying expansion has taken place but, to compare populous is way off. After I hit Beaumont, there will be no point in driving any further. Once I have had the best, I don't need the rest of Texas.montag wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:18 pmIn he spirit of the approaching holiday, I triple dog dare either of you to drive from New Orleans to San Antonio on I-10.Citizen B wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:21 pmYou already know what I am going to say so I am not going to belabor the obvious.Ronv69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:01 pm

I've done it more than once. Never again. It's 6 hours from our house to New Orleans. That's a rather nice drive on LA 49.montag wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:18 pmIn he spirit of the approaching holiday, I triple dog dare either of you to drive from New Orleans to San Antonio on I-10.Citizen B wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:21 pmYou already know what I am going to say so I am not going to belabor the obvious.Ronv69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:01 pm

Now that is a better drive. I was near you last week and my entire route was designed around staying off of interstates and divided highways.
Even almost isn't close enough. My doors are open if you come to NJ.Ronv69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 3:01 pmWhat I'm saying is that the Houston metro area has grown to the point that it's larger and almost as densely populated as New Jersey.
