I received a batch a briar from the most generous member on the piping webs, @rekamepip . He asked me to keep him updated on my piddle work. So, for fun, heres another Mincer mimic i turned out with rudimentary implements.

Looking good, so far! Not sure I'd have the guts to attempt something like this, but the more I look at these pics, I might have to try!

I did brown in the crags and orange on the orange peel portion. Then went behind them and put black in those areas neither marker colored.
Two coats or shellac and some time with a piece of 0000 steel wool and kaboom.
