Hoppe's No. 9
I always laugh at his cleaning videos... he's too happy with that stuff for me.

Balistol smells awful but its the best gun oil I ever used. LSA is good too, but does not have the lasting power of Balistol. Hoppes is not in the running as far as I am concerned. My Dad was a collector and gun trader the same as me. We must have used gallons of Hoppes between us. I love the smell of Hoppes so well I could use it for aftershave, but it just does not get the job done. Its OK as a temporary protectant but thats about it. Want proof? Scrub the bore of your firearm as best as you can with Hoppes until a clean white patch is the result. Then run a fresh patch with Sweet's 7.62 Bore Solvent through the bore. I guarantee you will be surprisedat how green it is with copper fouling if you use jacketed bullets. A light coating of that stinky but oh so effective Balistol or LSA and its a done deal. Hoppes does smell a little bit like 'nanners if you have a good imagination. More like kerosene with some vanilla extract added. Like some black cavendish tastes.Tsal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 12:14 pmI never put that stuff on my guns. Just solvent No.9 and barely a wipe on wipe off of LSA.Middle Earth wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 11:40 amIt is the only liquid lubricant I will use on a lock. It is the only CLP that I use on firearms. It does not, will not, gum up.
