A few highway rest stop stores around here
Defunct Fast Food Chains
Prince's hamburgers in Houston. They made a great burger and malts, but they sold at least as many fried shrimp baskets as burgers. I ate at one as late as 10 years ago. They also had the first carhops on roller skatesm

Chuck Wagon hamburgers is another great hamburger place in Houston that's long gone. There were 7 or 8 of these. When I was 7 I walked to this one by our house to get burgers and onion rings every week. Obviously the neighborhood has changed.

Not defunct but there are a handful of these White Diamond and White Rose diners still in Jersey but in my opinion the Diamond reigns supreme, hidden gems? Definitely! This one in Clark, NJ has been in this location since 1947 and the burgers have been made the same way, smashed on the flattop with onions and served on a Kaiser Roll. Get yourself a side of onion rings and you are gold. Rumor has it the smashed burger technique has been borrowed from these chains.

Only one location left in Las Vegas
This place has been serving up delicious fried chicken and turkey in Las Vegas since 1973. The best thing on the menu is called the "Great Gobbler". It's a fried turkey sandwich on a soft buttered roll with cranberry jelly and Miracle Whip. Served with mashed potatoes and gravy.
