I tried uni once, at the dock with my daughter when she was still pre-adolescent (she has always been very adventurous with food), and it was amazing. The deckhand took a live urchin right there, cracked it open, scooped out the part you eat, and gave it to her, then me. We were like, 'really?' And he nodded and she went for it, then so did I. It tasted like essence of the sea.

This is exactly how I describe it. When uni is fresh it it fantastic.

I cannot tell you how happy this sentence makes me. You described it perfectly.

I've had uni a couple of times and so far it's been the only food I didn't care for. Don't care for the taste or the texture.

I always get lost when I am cutting the quotes. I knew I was getting lost at the time but didn't want to preview it. That'll show me. Thank you for the correction. Your honesty is as refreshing as the taste of sea urchin.

When I think of eating a sea urchin , Im reminded of the dolphins caught in the Tuna nets and how big a deal that was , say back in the 90's . The poor dolphins .. I get it , but my reaction was always .. Jeez , no one give a gee willikers about the tuna . Poor Urchins , I mean its not like they can swim or run away ... they just sit there moving at a snails pace . I guess theres still snails around to eat , so I guess there will still be urchin
