It probably seems like a bit of madness to some but I like having a ton of options to choose from (haven't counted but I probably have 40 jars open) and if I'm not in the mood to think just grab an old reliable dailyMusical Viking wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 1:22 pm I’m quite new to this (again after a break) so I’ve been going with what I could find locally - the usual supermarket brands like Clan, Gold Block and St Bruno, the latter being my regular. However, there’s a good online shop I use occasionally to try new blends out, so I do a bit of research, pay my money and take my chances! I’ve had mixed results so far, but nothing completely terrible (my lack of finesse probably never helped). I’ve got 3 new ones on their way - SG Squadron Leader, Solani Festival and Solani Virginia Flake. Generally I like to try as many styles and flavours as I can, but I’m sure I’ll find my new regulars before long.

I try to stick to 2, 3 tins at a time, max. It does take some discipline but, most of the time, I can achieve that. I don't have an all-day smoke, and never did. I tried a lot of genres the first 15 years or so and then started figuring out what I really liked and the logical outcome was to stick with those genres and avoid venturing into the other territories. Otherwise, it became too expensive and resulted, inevitably, in waste.rlucas wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 5:54 pm How does one choose which tobacco to smoke? I know the whole smoke what you like that thing. I have several different tobaccos, when I go to smoke my pipe, I take so much time deciding, I get cigar instead. Recently I have been sticking to a single blend. Anyone else have this problem?
To get to your first question, yes, there are times I can't decide what to choose. I simply walk away for a while and then go back. Most of the time, I already know what I want. Other, not so much. It happens. That simply means, to me, I don't really want to smoke my pipe so I choose a cigar,, instead.
I have never stuck with only one blend more than the time the tin lasts, the rare times I only have one open. Then, I move to another one. That's only because I have a good variety of tobaccos.

Back in the day, McClelland Virginias were my mainstay. Now, I smoke Sutliff Virginia Slices and like that I can buy it by the pound.

I have a question regarding VaPers
I used to think I was strictly and English/Balkan blends man, but having smoked some RJ Perique in the milder autumn weather I am now after some VaPer suggestions.
I’m looking to pick up about 5 different tins to try and an after some suggestions.
Many thanks in advance!

@Aaronimo I’m not sure what’s available in England. Look for Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake, Escudo, Cornell and Diehl Exclusive.
There are lots out there but I like these and can vouch for them. You should be able to order at least some of these.

Elizabethan Mixture is my favorite of the blends from this maker. I know it is Peterson but I want to pretend that I don't.
I forget what makes it Elizabethan but it has nice tin art and it is very tasty for what my opinion is worth.
Never buy a tin with bad art on its label.
