Ok, this might get me banned or black listed and it’s not meant to offend anyone. We are among friends, so I feel like full disclosure is acceptable. Many years ago in a time of my life when I was somewhat rowdier than l am now, I wanted to open a bar. At first it was a passing comment in conversation but then I started really digging and actually had contact established with the local distributor, had found a location and had plans to rewire it to isolate the stage area (electric bleed-over sucks) as well as build a stage with a drum riser. A good friend had a band and agreed to be the house band. The plan was to have open mic on Thursdays, different bands (blues, rock, country) and my buddy’s band on Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday afternoon the lights would be on and the place cleaned up for Bluegrass. The kicker was we were going to have midgets, shall we call them “Go-Go Dancers”, with poles and cages when Rock bands play. Did you make it to a Kid Rock show in his first few years of national popularity? He hired local full size talent for a stage presence. I had a dozen paid memberships and never got the doors opened. I had a young family and was already working 50-60 hrs a week so my wife made a good call when she nipped that program in the bud. But a few of my old friends and I still laugh about what could have been.
