I can't afford Ivory either. Mine are some kind of resin. They are slimmer than the grips I have on it now so I don't know if I'll keep them.Kevin Keith wrote: ↑Fri Sep 01, 2023 8:50 amI have imitation ivory with the Mexican eagle and snake on this 1911

Well, I suppose at least you don't have wolves there by the sound of it (I don't know where you are). It's hard to imagine a bear being scared off by dogs, but seeing your dogs I totally believe it! ... I did see one on a documentary one time, it was snuffling around some rocks, in India, and came across a fully grown tiger... It turned tail and I've never seen an adult bear run for its life in absolute terror before!
We don't get anything, obviously, like that around here. If I'm out early I see the odd fox and occasional deer. The only intruders we have are squirrels! Oh and this guy...
And yes, he got what he came for
Bears are very afraid of dogs.
Dogs are used in many state parks and such to scare bears away.
Even a mother with cubs will run from dogs...usually.
I believe its kinda like how dogs can sense fear, so can bears.
Humans are almost always afraid of bears but dogs are rarely afraid of bears. The bears know this and it scares them.
Black bears attack and kill far more people than brown bears or polar bears.
Of course this is because black bears and humans share territory, so humans are far more likely to stumble across a black bear.
Annd, black bears see humans as food, whereas brown bears do not. That seems opposite but it isnt. Black bears actually hunt humans. Brown bear attacks are almost always due to cubs or you getting too close(territory).
A brown bear will kill you, then leave. A black bear will kill you, eat some of you, bury you and come back for more.
