Wondering what others think about waxing briar pipes.
I like the way waxing highlights the grain, I've been using a Canauba wax, are there any negatives?
To wax or not?
When I refurb an estate I give it a couple of coats of carnauba wax with a buffing wheel all over. After that it may get another coat during a deep clean. It does enhance the appearance.

I’ve never waxed a pipe. I don’t think you need to worry about it yet. Maybe every 200 smokes. That sounds like a good number

Waxing a pipe has been a standard final act of cleaning and or freshening up a pipe for over a hundred years .

I wax my pipes occasionally....like very occasionally.
I do not really care what my pipe looks like but I like waxing them.
