Carey magic inch pipe

Bought this pipe a couple weeks ago. Smoked it for first time today. No matter how tight I packed the tobacco, the draw was wide open. I have the paper filters for it. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Carey has some really nice pipes, I can't stand the stems or magic system deal. You can put a piece of tape over the hole(s) on the stem and also on the system tube part the filters go on, try to seal the leaks. I just restem them if I like the pipe enough.

I have never heard of these pipes but I usually agree with @mrpipster .
