I searched the Interwebs for a while. And I cannot find the answer. The questions is: "What distinguishes a run-of-the-mill-but-also-pretty-fine Peterson XL02 from a genuine Mark Twain?" Cause they both look pretty much the same to me. So what is the distinction? Better briar? Better grain? Just the imprint? Also, are new Mark Twain pipes still available?

The closest copy to the actual pipe Mark Twain smoked in the Peterson POY 2022 14b. They come up on ebay occasionally, and you will pay for them. But everything about the pipe is in this article:
