So , yesterday Im sitting at a bar for a drink after work with a couple guys I work with . I put my pipe out before going inside . After we get our drinks Im thinking ... damn , Id like my pipe right now . I look at the guys [ all younger ] and say ... ya know what , I remember smoking this thing at the bar and no one had a problem

I remember smoking everywhere and no one had a problem with it . Rarely , someone would do the fake cough thing ... these were the original Karens that obviously took over the smoking world

When my oldest son , Nick , was a baby ... we went to Disney world [ like he'd ever remember it , lol , I dont know why the exwife wanted to go ] and I smoked a pipe pushing him around in the stroller thing . No one had a problem and I even got some compliments on the aroma and teh cool Ascorti pipe I was smoking . Try smoking at disney now .... gee willikers , try smoking on your own 300 dollar a night hotel balcony at disney .... nope , ya cant do it on your balcony . I hate disney and every thing about it .. smoking and everything else

Smoking during a baseball game was about as good as it got . I remember when Legends Field opened in Tampa .. its where the Yankees do their spring training . The huge marquee out front said ....

Legends Field and Hoyo de Monterey Cigars ...... Id light a Hoyo Cuban Largo [ kind of a longish lonsdale they dont make anymore because everyone wants the biggest fattest cigar in their mouth these days ] and watch the game , eat some dogs with a beer and cigar ... absolutelyfreaking perfect

I could go on and on

Anyway , I remember smoking everywhere back when the world knew its place . Most of us here are " old enough " to remember

Got any fond smokimg memories ?

I grew up in a small town and remember ashtrays in the waiting room at the docs office. The nurse/receptionist/secretary would come out every hour and clean them out.
The bowling alley was always full of smokers too.

I never paid much attention to people smoking in public, other than at a Bingo Hall that I remember going to 20+ years ago. You could literally see the smoke pouring out when opening the door to go inside.
I do recall watching my foreman and everyone that smoked spending half the day in a little makeshift smoke pen on a jobsite several years ago and thinking:
"If that was covered enough to provide some shade, I would go over and ask a cigarette from someone."
"For unto every one that hath shall be given and he shall have abundance but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath."
As an unprofitable servant, I can confirm that there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Smokers were everywhere. Smoking was everywhere. Really! Everywhere! Except for church. There we had enough sense to smoke on the porch!

Yes , I dont remember anyone smoking in church other than the frankincense . I did light up downstairs at church a few years back . Theres like a dozen big tables down there and a kitchen etc .. , and people go hang out there after Mass . I was hanging out and pulled a pipe out of my jacket and lit up like on autopilot ... it happens sometimes because it was an engrained activity

I certainly remember it being way more common. I have early memories of my dad smoking cigarettes in the house. We moved when I was young, and he started smoking out in the garage. That was until I badgered him out of smoking. I was one of those Karens (Karls?). He quit, and a year or two later, when I was about 16, I started smoking cigarettes. He never took it back up, but I've been smoking tobacco ever since (20 years later) with some breaks here and there. I haven't smoked cigarettes regularly in a number of years, though.

I remember be able to smoke in hospitals and on airplanes. Had a hard time on 13hr trip to Germany. Think I chain smoked half a pack of cigs when I landed.
