I would love to learn how to play geetar. But that hurts my damn fingers
They will get accustomed to all the moving around ... just gotta get past the initial .." holy shit my fingers are sore / stiff . You can do it and these modern days are the best ... and heres why ...

Back in the day , a cheap guitar was really a poorly made instrument . I mean , they were garbage and almost impossible to play ... thus it put off a lot of people from progressing . These days , the cheaper guitars are designed and cut using bad ass CNC machines and their quality is way better than back in my day

So check tis out as an example ...

I bought Joseph his first electric some years back , an Epiphone Les paul Junior with two P90 pick ups . I got it for 120 dollars . The tuners were a bit meh , so I bought a decent set on sale for 60 bucks and handed it to a luthier friend of mine to add the tuners and " tweak " whatever tolerance the guitar needed , which wasnt alot . So for another 100 bucks , I got it back

so , 120 + 60 + 100 = 280 ................. so , for 280 bucks , this guitar is so spot on and wicked playing and sounding . To get anything better , Id have to spend about 800 to a grand , no bullshit . I used his guitar on part of a gig and it screamed . Id never play a shit guitar gigging and Id play this thing every day and be completely happy doing so .. but Im a Tele guy , lol

Anyway , the cheap guitars [ alot of them , anyway ] just need tuners and adjustments and are usually good to go

Teles are very versatile beasts . But damn they have an attitude all their own as well. It never hurts to have lots of options to choose from

When I was about 15 my friend's brother had a Telecaster and I played with it and doodled on it and I thought it was pretty good and easy.. Then I was grown and finally had time for lessons. I bought an Alverez acoustic with steel strings. It was too hard on my fingers to start out. When my son wanted a guitar, we took my BIL with us to pick out a good learning guitar. He was the featured lead guitar for the Texas Prison band for many years. We went to a place near downtown Houston where the pros bought their guitars and he selected a new foreign made Tele. Then he tested it and had a crowd coming in off the street. My son has problems with his hands and couldn't play it, though he did show promise. We still have it, but I can barely get started before my arthritis starts to hurt. I wish I had bought a Tele for my lessons and maybe I could enjoy talking guitars more m

Oh don’t get me started.....

First “real” guitar I got - 1994 Telecaster

Only Strat I’ve kept - 1998 Deluxe

1998 Les Paul - present from my wife

Parts Telecaster - supposed to be the culmination of all the attributes I like of a Tele, Strat and LP. It’s cool, plays great, but not my go to.

Walnut LP Junior copy I built - I think there was a thread about it.

Tele shaped lap steel - I know there was a thread on it.

1973 Guild D35 - my old friend. She is currently getting a neck reset and a little work done. She deserves it.

1999 Guild D30 Sunburst - she’s a looker

And the latest rescue - 1968 Guild M75 Aristocrat. Somebody wanted a LP and tried to make it into one. I’ve been working to undue the abomination.

Oh, 2 ukuleles. One I built and one I got in Hawaii.

1996 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe

Mesa Boogie Rocket 440 - covered in distressed leather and wicker grille

2024 Fender Deluxe Reverb

1977 Fender Pro Reverb - updated caps, etc, reverb on normal channel, Dumble mod on Normal channel with mid pot added on back and the bright switch is a mid boost now. Also tremolo disconnect on the intensity pot. I LOVE this amp.

Two amps I built. One is single ended class A 5 watter with a built in reverb. The other is a champ style clone I built into an old tube radio.

That’s what comes to mind. I’m sure there are others. I’ve played a little bit of everything as far as types of music. I was into surf music last year, jazz before that. Hard Rock, old Country, Texas Swing, whatever. Right now it’s Bluegrass. Haven’t played out or with anyone in many years.

The refurb before the M75 was a, I’m guessing 1970s, Memphis P-Bass. Turned out great.

Thanks for sharing those are some primo guitars you've accumulated! Hopefully you know someone with good hands to work on that guild!
