That is what was like back in the day. In So Cal, at least, you would get Blue/Green stamps, streak knives etc for free as well. Always down for nostalgia.

We have several stations like this around here. Even one that is exclusively full service.
There is a large company, Kwik Fill, that has hundreds of stations. Probably half are full service...gas, tire air, fluid check, windows washed....
I was an attendant at one while in high school.

I think i may have worked at the last " full service " station in Florida back in the day . We did all the checks and washed the glass etc ... every car that pulled in , every time . And this was in 84

After I started working there a rime , half the pumps went self service for those that wanted that , which wasn't a lot at first . If we were busy and they pulled up to self service but want full , that was fine . My God , I haven't thought of that in decades

Up until 1988 there was a local market that had an attendant that pumped gas. It was the closest place to my house I could buy gas and it was right off the interstate. I was traveling back and forth to Charlotte for work and school and riding a new Sportster so I filled up everyday. The gentleman and I had an agreement about pumping gas into my motorcycle. It wasn’t a big deal on the old 1972 XS650 but I didn’t want him banging the knozzle around that paint on the new Harley so he’d walk out and shoot the breeze while I pumped. He said I wasn’t the only person who was uptight and in the old days folks were happy to let him pump their gas. Frank must have been 80 something. He was a great guy with stories to tell.
